Washing and Grooming — Shower Exemption While Wearing Casts
The House Boy is required to remain naked at home and has no right to physical privacy. In addition to his scheduled household duties and chores, he must maintain proper manscaping and be clean and fresh smelling at all times. This includes properly reporting for scheduled shower times, and submitting to full body and body part inspections to insure that protocol has been followed and cleanliness standards are met. The bathroom door must remain open during activities like showering, urinating and shaving to allow for supervision regardless of who may be present and could observe Tub Baths (Rule #133) are rarely assigned, except when specifically instructed, usually when there is an issue with water pressure or another special consideration.
When a House Boy is wearing a cast of any size on any part of his body, he may be required to use bathtub facilities instead of taking a conventional shower. Protocol calls for him to request supervision prior to entering the tub, and Master will assist with washing and rinsing properly, as well as safe entry and exit from the tub. This task may be assigned by Master to one or more able-bodied volunteers when available. In all cases where the Naked House Boy is bathing while wearing a cast, care must be taken by all to properly lather and rinse every body part while keeping the cast dry, either by leaving the covered body part out of the water, wrapping it in plastic or both if practical.
When wearing a cast, the House Boy is not responsible for self-drying or cleaning up wet floors unless he may do so safely. Master or a volunteer assistant will tend to these duties, with the House Boy instructed to do only what is safe. When a volunteer assistant is tasked to assist the House Boy with bathing, he or she shall be considered Temporary Master for the duration of time the House Boy is in the bathroom during bathing and cleanup, with temporary authority to issue instructions pursuant to applicable protocols and the right to administer immediate Level One Discipline when necessary. Violations of a higher level may be reported to Master for follow up or reduced to Level One with additional swats to avoid delay of consequences
Master recognizes the inconvenience and extra time which is needed to wash and shave while wearing a cast, and will consider requests by the House Boy to reassign or reschedule washing and manscaping times, but is not obligated to grant any such request. Preference will be given to using a volunteer assistant when available over time shifting of any showering or bathing. A House Boy who is assigned to wear a cast or faux cast as part of a Disability Awareness Educational Initiative (Rule #119) or Costumed Event like Halloween (Rule #50) is required to adhere to this protocol the same as if the cast is being worn due to prior injury.
